Highlights from January 2019

31 January 2019

And just like that January – gone! James and I were just talking the other day about how upsetting it is how quickly time flies these days. And that alarming fact can actually freak me out if pondered on too long. So let’s not! January in my opinion can be a weird one. And for whatever reason it was a bit all over the place this time around. So I thought a post dedicated to highlights from January would be a fun way to share what I’ve been up to.

Below is a little photo diary of random shots via my iPhone throughout the month of January.

And what better way to start the new year than with a nice hot cup of Joe. I posted that little video first thing January 1 on my Insta-stories and it was very fitting of my mood that morning. One of my goals for the year is to experiment with various styles of photography. And really just have fun with it. All I can say is the hills were very alive. 😉 Seriously though I think I could watch that clip all day…so mesmerizing! Julie Andrews really can do no wrong! lol

James and I kicked off the year (like many do) a little more health conscious. Fortunately part of James background is in sports training so he created me a nice little workout routine. I’m a little over a month in and so far so good.

I also jumped on the infamous Celery Juice bandwagon. It took some time for my body to adjust to that one. But I’m finally experiencing the benefits everybody has been raging about it. I’m a believer!

…of course the family did have to go on one last pancake run before things got really serious in the healthy department! 😉 And we have also rested since this photo too. Ha!!

I did manage to take a few strolls in local stores and nurseries to gain new inspirations for the home. I also came home with a few thrifted finds. Love these kind of little getaways in my day! They literally can make everything better.

My friend Dawn and I always have the best time when we explore Galveston, TX for photoshoots. It’s like visiting somewhere new every time we go there. And for whatever reason the place always has a way of bringing out my silly side. Which is definitely a rare occasion.

In our exploring we stumbled upon an alley that I thought was pretty cool. Despite the outfit I had on not really jiving with the whole ambiance of the alley scene I still wanted a picture there. It was a good laugh! The weather was absolutely gorgeous that day. I definitely was having a case of spring fever.

As mentioned earlier, this past month was all over the place. So the picture below switches gears a bit from all fun and games to a bit more of a serious topic. Below is a picture in route a few weeks ago while at Texas Children’s Hospital for my oldest son’s yearly check-up. We were there getting educated on what changes we would need to make in Dominic’s diet due to a recent Celiacs Disease diagnosis. A gluten free diet has definitely been an educational adjustment in our household (Dominic lives for bread and pasta!!), but so far he is adjusting great.

If you have any gluten free recipes you would like to recommend we are all ears.

I did make this very simple gluten free Peanut Butter Cookie recipe the other day and all were devoured within the hour! I barely had the opportunity to take a picture of them. I’d say that recipe is a keeper!

Below are a few looks I enjoyed wearing over the last month…

Tatum and I twining in our polka dots for church. She is getting so tall!

And lastly per a friends recommendation, I joined Reese Witherspoons bookclub. I’m a little late in the game, but finally started January’s book of the month The Library Book. I’m excited about digging into some new good books this year.
