A Quick Life Update Brain Dump

29 October 2018

fall blooms, flower arrangements for fall, diary, brain dump

Between October birthday celebrations and sick kids it’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks. So today’s post is going to be a bit of a brain dump if you will. No need to worry it shouldn’t be too heavy. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Just somewhat of a life update recap of where my brain has been and where it needs to be headed. Whether I’m ready for it or not. There is also a fun little Halloween playlist in the mix below for those looking for some tunes this time of year.

Birthday Celebration at The Texas Renaissance Festival

Originally for my oldest son’s 14th birthday we planned a weekend family getaway. He is not materialistic at all and simply prefers family time together so a little trip seemed the way to go. But when he came down with a feverish virus we decided to keep his birthday celebrations local and opted for The Texas Renaissance Festival instead. Thankfully his fever broke the day before his birthday and our family festival adventures couldn’t have been more perfect.

It was our first time taking the kids so we were a little unsure how the new experience would hold over for him. But it turns out him being a fan of period themed movies the renaissance era was right up his alley. He was practically smiling ear to ear his whole time there. When I wasn’t distracting him with Turkey legs that is. ๐Ÿ™‚

We can learn a lot from my sweet guy. We don’t need “Stuff”! All we need is love and each other.

My Recharge Moment

I did manage to squeeze in a few days to recharge before the next batch of sickies in my family quickly followed.ย My recharging moment was spent mostly on the couch. I’m not that big of a tv person during the day. But James and I have been enjoying a new Netflix discovery called “Call the Midwife” so I squeezed in a few episodes. It is a PBS original based off writings from the late nurse Jennifer Worth during her journey as a midwife in London during the 1950’s. It’s been my new vintage fix since “Mad Men”. Yet in a completely different way. Have you seen it?

Moral of that story, jump on those opportunities to recharge. You never know when you will get a chance to have another one! Although I am truly thankful my lifestyle easily accommodates those calls for additional family nurturing as needed. A blessing I will never take for granted.

I do feel the outfit I wore while couch lounging deserves a shout out. I kind of forgot about my leopard cardigan. But really loved how it looked as a top tucked into a pair of my relaxed fitting jeans. Leopard print is one of those touches that always seems to make me feel extra stylish. Even during a lazy couch break. ๐Ÿ™‚ {Not the greatest quality of a photo, but you get the gist.}

Halloween Playlist

Halloween is in a few days and for the most part we are ready for the occasion. Now we are just crossing our fingers it doesn’t rain. It rained on us last year and we are looking at 80% chance this time around as well.

I did manage to put together a fun playlist for the holiday. Since we have to wait another year for next seasons ‘Stranger Things’ {huge fans over here} a playlist centered around the show will have to do in the meantime. It’s a nice mix of sounds from the hit show as well as a few jams from the 80’s that compliment the vibe. The perfect accompaniment for the neighborhood trick or treat session with the kids or while passing out candy from your own home. You can find, follow or download my Spotify playlist here.

‘Tis the Season’

Our recent whirlwind has simmered some. But let’s be honest, ‘Tis the season’ so I don’t really foresee too much slowing down anytime soon. That being said, my brain does seem to be spinning a bit with to do’s mixed in with “I would ‘like’ to do’s”. Which I find to be quite the frustrating combo if you ask me.

As I sit here writing this post with Christmas music playing in the background {yes I’m one of those} I try to remind myself to just breathe and savor what really matters. Everything else will fall into place as it should. Right?

How are you doing? Anything exciting on your end?

As always, thank you for reading.
