Lately following blogs that inspire me have really become such a treat for me. So much so that I have incorporated a few favorite blog reads in my daily routine. In a way, I follow some like my Grandparents used to read their favorite newspaper columns each day/week. Blogs can be inspirational, educational, entertaining, or just plain real and relatable. And when you stumble upon one that meets all the above, score!
This week I will have officially been blogging for a year and a half now. And over that period of time I have had my fair share of blog reading. Whether it's been through supporting fellow bloggers or simply blogs I have discovered along the way. Either way, the benefits I've gained from following some of them have been quite rewarding. So I thought I would share a few of those benefits in today's post.
Don't leave the house without my eyebrows "did".
And when I mean "did". I simply mean comb them, pencil them, gel them, or whatever is needed to freshen and define them a bit. I by no means am a beauty buff. In fact if I spent an hour on my make-up I would still get comments that I look like I don't wear any. :/ But this handy little eyebrow tip was life changing for me.
Fun fact: I used to be so annoyed with my eyebrows catching all the powdery make-up residue from make-up application. So from not knowing any better I would literally take a wet cloth or lick my finger (sorry, just being real) to clean my brows off each time.
It wasn't until I read a blog post a few years back that I learned there are actual brow pencils, gels, etc to finish off those brows. Who knew?? Certainly not I! You literally can wear minimal make-up, but if the brows are polished suddenly your face looks nicely put together. Again, life changing! And I have a blogger to thank for that.
These two drugstore options have really worked for me:
Color Stay Brow Pencil; Auburn
Brow Stylist Boost & Set; Dark Brown
I'm not alone.
There are allllll kinds of blogs out there. Anywhere from mom blogs, craft blogs, diary blogs, style blogs, beauty blogs, fitness blogs, lifestyle blogs, travel blogs, and more. You name it and somebody is sharing about it on a blog. Engaging in niches that you can relate to are comforting. They can remind you that your not the only one that feels a certain way or has been where you are.
You might even learn how to deal with your situation based on their experience. Or perhaps even be able to shed some light with that blogger on your similar scenario. The support can go both ways between a blogger and their readers. The connection can be truly powerful.
Blogs can be great reminders of upcoming holidays.
Now I am not necessarily that particular blogger. I have a hard enough time remembering what the next day is much less what holiday I should be preparing for. For whatever reason people often mistake me as a planner. And to be honest I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps I wing it smoothly. Ha!
But as a blog reader, I can't tell you how many times they have reminded me what holiday was approaching. If it wasn't for a blog post I was reading a few days before our recent Europe trip I would not have known I was going to be gone during Mother's Day! Whoops...Happy Mother's Day to me. 😉
So some bloggers can be really handy in preparing us for the next holiday.
They inspire me to think outside my box.
Or better yet, get rid of my box. This is probably one of my favorite aspects of reading blogs. Not only can they be educational, but can really inspire us to try new things that we perhaps never thought to try. There are so many great ideas, lifestyle habits, and opportunities to explore. And blogs are a great resource in intriguing aspirations we never knew we had.
Reminders that My Way is just as good and worth sharing.
As a blogger myself, crafting "my way" in the blogging industry has definitely been a process. I have never really been one to desire what everybody else is doing. Don't get me wrong. If it seems like a good idea, sure I'll see if it's for me. But for the simple fact "because everybody is doing it" has never really been my style. I tend to be drawn to and inspired from others individual uniqueness and the differences they have to offer. I can get quite bored with the majority. So it can be challenging to find our unique successful path as bloggers when we all have the same guide books leading us in the same direction.
I read in a blog once that what we have to say in our way matters and there will always be an audience for it somewhere. That spoke volumes to me. Not that I need an audience or anything like that. But the fact that my unique experiences, thoughts, and expressions can possibly impact somebody in a positive way is really what it's all about. We all have a voice that deserves to be heard. Rather than have the "blogging industry" dictate my life. I choose to live my life and blog about the experiences I am moved to share my way in hopes it connects with others. Even if it's not the norm. It's really as simple as that for me.
There are so many inspiring individuals out there that too are just taking in one day at a time. Some just happen to be sharing what they know, feel, or learning in the midst of it through a blog. And thankfully we can easily share that journey right along with them should we choose. If you don't already I encourage you to find a blog or two to follow that spark your interests, inspire, or you connect with. I think you might be pleasantly surprised how impactful they can be in fueling your own way.
What inspiring blogs have you discovered and why? I would love to hear about them in the comments below.
As always, thank you for sharing this journey with me.
And if you aren't already, I would love to stay in touch with you here on the blog. So be sure to subscribe in the subject box at the bottom of this post.
