I’m loving the modernized shift gingham has taken over the last couple of years. I have always thought gingham was cute, but I often felt the pieces represented in this pattern generally crossed over to too “cutesy” for my own personal taste. For example:

Don’t get me wrong. Cutesy is great, just not on me.
With today’s gingham pieces branching out into more sophisticated and chic options I have embraced what the classic pattern has to offer in my own wardrobe. I can now say I am obsessed and can’t seem to get enough.
The gingham dress in today’s look is simple and chic with a touch of edge intertwined with feminine ruffle flare. A combo that happens to be one of my favorites. Its natural silhouette is a dropped waistline. However I chose to style it with a black skinny belt cinched at lower waist. This provided a balanced length with these boots for my frame, yet continued the relaxed vibe by keeping the belt low and loose.
I’m anxious to wear the dress in it’s natural silhouette (no belt) as well with perhaps a simple heeled sandal or wedge. Outfit details from today’s look including a visual of the dress in it’s natural form are linked at the bottom of the post.
