Today officially marks the first full day of summer break for our family. As this time approaches every year, my mind is usually all over the place. Thoughts of relief, excitement, desires, ideas, pressure, fear, and anxiety all jumbled within that eventually leaves me feeling completely overwhelmed and stressed. Questions like “How will I keep the kids entertained?”, “Can I tend to each child’s needs and fulfill their individual summer desires by myself?”, “Will my own to-do’s get done?”, “How will I keep my SANITY with little to no me-time?”. I eventually become so overwhelmed and filled with anxiety that I become incapable of creating a plan even if I tried.
I always tell myself “this” summer I’m going to do it the right way. You know….the kind of summer that Pinterest tells us we should be having. Days filled with activities, crafts, music lessons, sports, swim lessons, cooking lessons, lemonade stands, reading programs, summer camps….the list goes on! All of it sounds amazing and perfect! However; maybe it’s just me (it probably is), but I’m not sure cramming all that into a summer will leave us (at least my family) feeling like we had any type of “break”. Isn’t summer all about taking a break from the daily schedules/activities/planning that school brings anyway?
Well this summer I decided I’m keeping it simple.
A life of constant activity has never worked well for our family anyway so why try. And to be honest in my experience with kids I have never even met Plan A. So while I do have an idea of things we would like to tackle this summer, I’m cutting myself some slack if our summer is not necessarily “Pinterest” ready.
To keeping it simple this summer. Wish me luck! 🙂
Speaking of keeping it simple, this outfit is pretty much my preferred daily uniform. Neutral, simple, comfy, and timeless. 🙂 Now the dress was purchased last year on clearance (for .90 cents I might add); however it’s classic style will be around forever. I’ve linked a few options for ya below.
What does your summer look like this year? Are you trying anything new this time around? I would love to hear about them in the comments.
P.S. Since this is my first summer break while maintaining a blog, my usual blogging schedule may shift some. Please bare with me. 😉 Until next time!
