It’s hard to believe Christmas has already come and gone. Every year I have ambitions and goals of having that perfectly planned out holiday season. You know…the kind with all the pretty bells and extra whistles and that “Martha Stewart” stamp of approval. Yet I always just end up running around in circles trying to survive. lol! Maybe next year! 😉 We did change our holiday tradition up a tad this year by attending our churches Christmas Eve service. It was a lovely experience and the opportunity to sing in our church choir was the icing on the cake!
On another note, let’s talk about the power of the turtleneck.
During the winter months, the turtleneck is often the first garment that comes to mind when deciding my outfits. Whether its chosen as the primary feature of the ensemble or simply as a layering contribution the end result is always polished. Not to mention how it magically elongates the frame a few inches, especially when styled monochromatically. Now when has an illusion of looking taller ever hurt anybody?! 😉
With today’s layering trends, the sky is the limit to what we can pair this trusty little garment with. There is always the classic under a button down or sweater paired with jeans or trousers. But we shouldn’t stop there. Perhaps try it under your favorite slip dress that would otherwise only be worn in the warmer seasons. The ability to utilize wardrobe pieces from season to season is always a plus in my book and the turtleneck is a lovely option to achieve that.
Here I styled this creamy 3/4 sleeve version with a casual grey jumpsuit. Not only does the turtleneck provide a layering dimension, but transforms this jumpsuit from casual to casual chic. Accessorizing with a touch of maroon in the clutch and heels provided a subtle richness to the overall finale look.
Well whether we are ready or not, 2017 is right around the corner and the season of reflection is in the air. As I sit back and reflect on this past year, evaluate the present, and create goals for the future, I’m simply reminded of the many blessings in my life. God is so good!
This time around I think I will try taking a deep breathe, do my best, and let God do the rest. How about you guys? Any big plans to bring in the new year?
